We are committed to understanding and improving the impact of our operations on the environment and society.
Wheels Up recognises the importance of taking action to mitigate the impact of our business operations which includes the contribution made to the pressing issue of climate change. We are very conscious that as a business we have a duty to act appropriately and with integrity to reduce our environmental impact and with over 60 years of trading experience and the resilient culture we have created, we are in a good position to be able to rise to this challenge.
We are a people business, devoted to our customers and invested in supporting our employees to work in a culture that is fair, responsible and inclusive with sustainability at the heart of all we do.
We have embarked upon a new journey seeking innovative ways to put our business to work for the benefit of all our stakeholders which is why we have an ESG strategy which carefully considers the key factors intrinsically important to our current and future operations.
The Wheels Up Environmental Strategy is aligned with our broader corporate objectives and demonstrates the seriousness that we are attaching to sustainability across the group. By developing an environmental strategy and showcasing progress towards our objectives, we consider that this can create a significant competitive advantage for Wheels Up in taking a more responsible approach to climate change, stakeholder wellbeing and governance expectations.
The strategy also allows us to make improved process efficiencies and reduce risk, through the development of stronger risk identification and management processes enabling us to plan for, and action, future regulatory requirements. More than at any other time in our history we are focused upon making considerable improvements to the group’s environmental performance, building on our previous efforts and finding innovative solutions to make further changes.
"We recognise that our business operations contribute to the effects of climate change, and we are committed to acting responsibly in partnership with our stakeholders delivering positive outcomes through our ESG strategy."
Greg Charman, ESG & Compliance Manager
Our ESG Strategy is aligned with our broader corporate objectives and we believe demonstrates the seriousness that we are attaching to sustainability across the group.
The Strategic Pillars include:
We are fully committed to acting responsibly across all of our business operations, and reducing our impact on the environment is a key influence on the decisions we make.
We have launched a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) program* in partnership with Delta Air Lines, which gives us access to its SAF supply through an on-demand book-and-claim system, regardless of operator or departure airport. This overcomes SAF scarcity at many airports and gives customers a transparent, credible solution.
The Social or 'S' element of our ESG strategy concerns our people and the relationships that our business has with stakeholders and the communities in which we operate.
Our people are what makes Wheels Up so extraordinary and our objective is to ensure that we continue to provide a safe environment where everyone is fulfilled and can reach their full potential. We want a diverse, inclusive and healthy workforce who live out our values of caring deeply, taking responsibility and working as one.
We believe that a strong governance framework creates a robust and responsive state for the business. Our leadership team have a duty of care and are committed to achieving the highest standards of corporate governance, thereby providing all stakeholders with transparency and assurance.
*SAF fees are automatically charged to all Wheels Up member flights on a per flight hour basis, per our membership agreement. International charter customers have an option to participate in our SAF program as a mechanism to reduce the carbon impact of their travel, with associated emissions attributes shared upon request.
